The Siren Call of Mount Kilimanjaro I spied the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, at dusk, through the bluish-grey clouds that gave them shelter from prying eyes like mine. Yet through it all, its coquettish beauty was neither easily hidden nor denied but instead was a covenant of spiritual enlightenment. So, it seemed to beckon me, like so many other fools before, to scale each of its 19,340 feet, if I dared. Was it a trick? Would she lead me into an interminable trap that would ... continue reading...

Things to do While Sitting Alone in a Bistro in Paris
A Bistro in Paris It seems silly. Why would anyone choose to spend their time this way in what is arguably the most romantic city in the world? Or surely noshing on Almond Crème Brulee at Le Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower while looking at the world below would be more appealing? My Vancouver Trip Report
Our Vancouver Trip Our flight to Vancouver was scheduled to depart Atlanta at 8 am on March 3, 2006; the reasoning was that it would allow us to have a large part of the day remaining to see Vancouver when we arrived since they are three hours behind us. However, our flight was delayed and we were fortunate enough to be re-routed on another (United) flight (that one left at 7:00!!) that would have a stopover in SFO rather than Chicago. During our flight, we were treated to the film “The Family ... continue reading...
My Honolulu Trip Report
OUR DEPARTURE Our flight to Honolulu was, unfortunately, destined to be an early one. It was scheduled to leave at 7:35 am on August 15th, 2005, so that meant that we had to rise at 3:30 am to get ready and make our usual preparations such as rechecking our luggage and doing last minute checklists before we left the house. After grabbing some breakfast/coffee, buying lunch (more on that later) filling up the car and parking it at The Parking Spot, we took the shuttle to American Airlines for ... continue reading...
My San Francisco, California Trip Report
Getting settled into San Francisco on Day one. We departed Atlanta on an 8:40 a.m. flight with Northwest Airlines to SFO via MSP on the morning of May 10, 2005. After a reasonably short layover in Minneapolis, we were on our way to San Francisco. We’d never been there and we were excited about getting to see such a beautiful city and the $98.00 r/t tickets didn’t hurt either! We had previously made arrangements with Super Shuttle to pick up us from the airport (r/t cost was 60.00 for two ... continue reading...
