NATIONAL PARKS’ Lifetime Senior Pass Will increase in 2017

The America the Beautiful is the Lifetime Senior Citizen Pass that is available from the National Parks Service.  On August 28, 2017, it is scheduled to increase from $10.00 to $80.00.  Needless to say, I was more than a little bummed about it. I don't meet the age requirement yet, but I am looking forward to it.  Mostly, because of the wonderful time that I had visiting several of our national parks.  Nevertheless, the new price matches the cost of an annual pass for the rest of us.  So ... continue reading...

The Top Six things to do on Easter Island

I've already given a detailed report about my trip to Easter Island shortly after returning in 2012.  In retrospect, I didn't go into much detail about what I considered to be the absolute top things to do on Easter Island while you are there. Today, I will attempt to rectify that oversight because if you are like me, you want to make the most of your precious time on the most remote island on earth. First things first, you would do well to hire a Guided Tour Company.  You will never ... continue reading...

My Adventure Bucket List Part II: A Decade of Desire

For part two of my Ultimate Bucket List For the Next Decade And Beyond (but really, I’m shooting for a decade) I’m heading to Central and South America. Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of knocking off a considerable number of my adventure bucket list.  I've visited Cozumel, Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile, and Easter Island, but it’s time to branch out even further. Since I’m a bit of a completist, wanderlust is taking me beyond the confines of the Caribbean and the Western coast of ... continue reading...

Chilhuly Glass | Travel Photo Thursday

The ceiling at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas solidified Dale Chilhuly's position as my favorite Glass artist ever. This amazing but breakable tapestry of color nearly gave me a neck cramp from admiring it so long. It is a sight to behold! ... continue reading...

Honolulu | Travel Photo Thursday

Where am I? Well, I was just as surprised as you might be to know that this is what the Honolulu International Airport looks like. It was a veritable oasis and it took us awhile to get to ground transportation after leaving baggage claim to see this. What a beauty! ... continue reading...

In search of the missing parts of me

There's something to be said for knowing who you are and where you come from.  Clarity is found when you have evidence, documented or anecdotal, of which ancestor first arrived on these shores.  There's closure when you can pinpoint the village that your forebear(s) left in their quest to seek a greater fortune or better life.  That is the story of so many who live in this country called "America".  Unfortunately, it’s not mine. My ancestors didn’t come here of their own ... continue reading...

OH, HI THERE!

We're Renee and Carisa and we live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA most of the time. Of course, that means that we spend most of our waking hours plotting the next excursion to anyplace outside of our zip code!

When time permits, Renee enjoys gardening, making friends, offering opinions on the state of world affairs and watching absolutely too much Netflix.

Carisa is an avid gamer, persistent knitter, fan fiction writer and believes that one can never outgrow Hello Kitty.
