Pictures of New Orleans

My trip to New Orleans in June was my first and was very enjoyable.  We didn’t really do much partying; we wanted to just see as much of the city as we possibly could.  But rest assured, we certainly visited the French Quarter while we were there and were treated to great entertainment and delicious food.

But true to its southern roots, the humidity was a bear.  The heat was palpable and very uncomfortable, so forewarned is forearmed.  Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated if you ever plan to visit in any month that does not end with -ary!  Despite temps that could send you to the brink of madness, good times were still being had.

I think one of my highlights were the old, Victorians that we saw as we rode the green trolley through the tree lined streets in an eerily quiet neighborhood.  Our cruise on the Creole Queen was relaxing as we took in the ambiance and beauty that is New Orleans, Louisiana.  I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Renee, lovely pictures! I’ve been to New Orleans a few times in July so I agree with you when you say the heat is uncomfortable. Plus, when I visited it rained…can you say humility?!? But still I really like the charm of Nawlins!

Great shots! I’ve only been to Naw’lins once but thought it was one of the most magical places ever. I really loved riding on the trolly and eating beignets at Cafe du Monde.

I’ve never been. It’s on my list when I settle back in the US.

I love New Orleans, but I think you’d have to pay me a lot of money to go in the summertime. It was humid when I was there in December…I can only imagine how bad it was in the summer. But I’m so glad you got to experience it! It’s a wonderful city, isn’t it?

Great photos from a beautiful city, although it sounds pretty uncomfortable to visit during summer, so I’ll take your advice and go in January or February if I’ll ever have the chance!

Ahhhh….I love that city sooo much! I lived there for three years in the early- mid 90’s before the devastation. Looking forward to going back for a visit one day!
Cafe du Monde, Decatur cafe crawfish and Mother’s restaurant….miss them so much!
