Today’s photo in Nancie at Budgettravelerssandbox’s Travel Photo Thursday is a scene from the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. It was taken in June 2010 during the “Top of the Rock” tour, which I highly recommend. It is a photographer’s dream to get such a breathtaking view of the city’s skyline. As you can see its pretty well populated; so much so that they only way to for the city to grow is vertically. It was pretty windy which didn’t bode well for videotaping, but it was virtually impossible not to get a great shot.

Start spreading the news……
I love the pink skyline…makes NYC looks soft. It’s a good change from the usual night photos with all the bright lights.
Grace,
You’re very perceptive….you put your finger on exactly why that picture speaks to me. Brava!
I love NYC but I do feel like a rat in a cage after a few days. That’s what close packed buildings do to me. Nice shot.
Leigh,
I would have to agree with you. I love NYC….but like the Dixie Chicks said…I need wide open spaces……
Great shot, Renee! I haven’t been to the “Top of the Rock” before… I was going to put a photo of NYC today too, but opted for something closer to home this week 🙂
I’ve always wanted to visit the Top of the Rock. What a great view.
Sorry I couldn’t have made that shot!! I’m OK on the top of mountains, like Mont Blanc, but I just can’t do these buildings!!
Beautiful shot, Renee! I was just at the Top of the Rock last week — awesome views, huh?
Wonderufl shot Renee. I’ve been to NYC a couple of time, but that was before the photo buy got me. If I ever get back, I’ll have to take this tour.
Thanks for posting to Travel Photo Thursday.
LOVE that city and what an absolutely gorgeous shot of it! lived in nyc but never did the top of the rock. next time 🙂
I’m getting vertigo…:>)
Great shot!
This view is absolutely breathtaking!
I have always wanted to go to NYC!
I also like how this is taken during the day because you usually only see pictures taken at night of the city. Love the different perspective.
Love the photo! NYC has so many different looks if you went down to the sidewalks and street wouldnt look as peaceful even though its the same time of day and at night is crazy different with all the lights.
That’s actually a very astute observation, Kirk. This scene is an absolute contradiction to the streets below.
