Travel Photo Thursday | Honolulu International Airport

When you see tropical foliage like this, you can’t help but imagine yourself on a lush island paradise alone or with the one you love and never coming back to civilization.  You would never suspect that this awe-inspiring scene is what you will see as soon as you exit the baggage claim at the Honolulu International Airport.  The funny thing about Hawaii is that it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that the place is going to be the equivalent of the promised land.

Until you lay your eyes upon it, you do not truly understand the gravity of the situation and the scope and depth of what that actually means.    Oahu’s pristine, azure waters that vary over the course of a day from a pale to cobalt blue and an overabundance of rainbow colored bromeliads, hibiscuses, orchids, and waterlilies is the perfect foundation for your own private utopia.  Yes, as soon as you touch the ground, you will know instinctively, that you’re home.

Hah, this had me thinking of Tarzan and Jane. A jungle scene right off the baggage claim in an airport. Love it !

HA! I hadn’t thought of that. I can just see him swinging from one of those trees…funny!

Fantastic shot Renee. I was in Honolulu many many years ago, and I remember how beautiful and lush it was. Thanks for posting to Travel Photo Thursday.

Great shot. Haven’t been to Hawaii yet, but as I sit here in the freezing cold with a fresh 8 inches of snow on the ground, it sounds more enticing than usual.

Yikes! I understand….we got 7 inches in Atlanta a week ago. Thankfully, everything has melted now.

Wow, cool. If Hawaii ends up being our first destination on our RTW, we’ll be sure to look for this at the airport. 🙂

That’s at the AIRPORT? Wow, a teasing glimpse of what’s to come, I guess.
I love seeing non-standard photos of interesting travel destinations.

Crazy right? We were astounded to walk out and see a virtual paradise before our eyes….we thought we’d get to see it eventually but not at the airport!
