A Wonderful Invention | Park Sleep Fly Packages

Park Sleep and Fly | A Great Travel Option

Whenever I travel, I’ve opted to use one of the “park, then get a free shuttle to the airport/pickup at the airport upon return and get free soda pop on your way out” businesses. It’s convenient and you don’t have to worry about begging someone to pick you up after your flight has been delayed at an ungodly hour. Of course, this service isn’t free. You can pay as much as $9.00 for uncovered parking and $13.00 for covered parking. And if you are anything like me, flight day can be pure drama trying to fight traffic and hoping that you make it to your gate on time.

Is There A Better Way?

But there is a saner way of getting to your next destination and you may even save yourself a dollar or two. Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up, get dressed and step right outside your room into a waiting airport shuttle?   Park, Sleep and Fly allows you to do just that. You can book a room with them for at least one night and they will not only make sure that you reach your flight in time, but your room rate will allow you to park your car on-site from 7-14 days at no additional cost! How awesome is that?! You will have your pick from several hoteliers like Sleep Inn, Comfort Inn and Howard Johnson that are located close to your hometown airport. While their website offers some customer reviews, you can always check out  Trip Advisor or the hotel’s main website for more opinions.

For our upcoming trip to NYC, we will be checking into the hotel the night before our scheduled departure and will have dinner at the sports bar and grill connected to the property.  We will more than likely take advantage of our access to their free WI-FI, local calls, exercise room and cable on their 42″ plasma before settling down on their king-sized bed for the night. The next morning after enjoying our free continental breakfast, we’ll be on our way to the airport to check in courtesy of the hotel’s free shuttle. The price tag for this great, stress-less experience? $75.00!! Also, this rate allows me to park there for up to two weeks.

Now, here’s the fine print: You have to pay 20% down when you book the property and pay an additional $4.99 service fee. Once you have booked the room, you will receive confirmation via email. You will pay the balance when you check out. Scared you, didn’t I? lol  Now, let’s compare $80.00 ($75.00 plus $4.99 fee) which covers parking, a room, a ride to the airport (and so much more) to the parking lot’s $91.00 for covered parking for that same week.   Obviously, it’s  a no-brainer…..so the next time that you think about how fun it is to make the long drive to the airport on flight day…remember to Park, Sleep and Fly instead.

Thank you for writing this article. You’ve given me some food for thought for my Europe trip in the fall. I’ve been torn between flying out of Burlington, VT airport (which is within walking distance of my house) or driving elsewhere where prices would be hundreds of dollars cheaper, but then having to pay for parking. This might be my solution!

I have never heard of this service before! Thanks for sharing. I usually just park at the Airport (the price is 3.75/day for uncovered parking).

That’s great, Elle!! In that case, keep it up. I just find it convenient because it allows me to leave work and go straight to the hotel. I think our cheapest uncovered parking is around 10 bucks now!

Okay, how helpful is that? Parking at the NYC airports or any airport for that matter can quickly bust a travel budget. Thanks for the nifty, essential piece of travel advice!
