The Goodbye That Was Never Said

 Today is day 19 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge.  This post is particularly difficult and personal to me.  It is something that I wrote after the death of my mother.  Few of us are fortunate to have no regrets or things left unsaid when losing a parent.  I wrote this to give voice to the things that I learned as a result and I hope that it will affect you in a way that will make you take action.

My sister- in- law’s eyes gave away the secret before she began to step back behind my brother’s broad shoulders. “Renee, mama’s gone…..” , he uttered as he watched my body involuntarily heave over. It was not entirely unexpected. Mama had been hospitalized once again for heart failure and all I could do was think about the smile that she had on her face when I last visited her. I could see her outstretched hands reaching towards me with a sense of peace that she somehow knew that her days on this earth were coming to an end.READ MORE

Sitting Here Thinking Of…..

Arghh….this challenge is catching up with me.  The show doesn’t end until Wednesday, so I really don’t have as much time as I would like to participate…  Today is day 16….I will make another post today.  This is a poem that I wrote about a woman is recalling various scenes from her life as a young married.  I hope that you enjoy it.

Sometimes when I lie in the bed alone
Imagining you beside me
Like you used to be
And still catching a whiff of paco rabonne cologne on
Your pillow brings
