This is day 5 of the July 2012 Ultimate Blog Challenge! Today’s post is about changing habits. I’d grown accustomed to not exercising, using one excuse after another to avoid creating and adhering to an exercise routine. Sometimes, it takes finding the right one to motivate you to take that crucial step.
I’m sitting here in from of my computer with a smile on my face. I should be sore and achy, but it’s early still….who knows what tomorrow will bring? I just got back from my Aqua Zumba class. I had been unable to exercise for the past month or two due to a knee condition….I have arthritis and most of the cartilage is gone. My orthopedic surgeon thinks a replacement is only a matter of when, not if. However, losing weight would certainly improve my chances of putting that lovely event off for the near future anyway.
I decided that water aerobics would be the ideal way to exercise without requiring too much from my joints and I was so right. My endorphins are on it’s own planet; I feel so at peace, so DE-stressed! I’d forgotten what joy a good workout can bring to the soul…..I am so glad to have made the choice to do better and to honor the house where this soul resides. I’ve decided to add a 30 minute walk regimen to the mix tomorrow and every day thereafter. Can you tell that my mind is doing cartwheels.
