Travel Photo Thursday | New Orleans Victorian Home

Today’s pic is a Victorian home that I passed by as I rode on a streetcar in New Orleans. This area of town wasn’t as flamboyant as the French Quarter, instead it was teeming with elegance and old world charm that was nonintoxicating.

One of the things that impressed me is the residents’ commitment to preservation which is precisely why visitors are anxious to come to the city because they will get to see old New Orleans as well as its modern day skyscrapers. One of these days I hope to see how this house turned out.

What a beautiful old Victorian! I love it when people renovate these gems. Hope you get to see this one when it’s finished.

I love old Victorian houses! I think I want to live in one until my husband reminds about the bad pluming and electrical issues 🙂

That’s exactly why I’ve said if I ever win the lottery, I wanted to build a Victorian from the ground up. That way, I would have the best of both worlds. However, I would have to hit the salvage yards to find traditional, vintage pieces like glass door knobs, moulding, etc. I would like to create a stained glass piece for the transoms too.

This is just how I imagine New Orleans to be! There is a sign that interests me hugely in your photo “Never Paint (your House) Again”!! I have an army of painters in my house at the moment, so this sounds really good!!!

New Orleans was my first ever trip abroad. It was a very exciting city. I was just a kid, but I remember seeing these kinds of houses.

Cool photos! Whenever I see old homes like these in New Orleans I think of the “Interview with the Vampire” books.
